In the draft Parking Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) (2024), we will update the supplementary planning document to take account of electric vehicle regulations. Since 2020, the Parking Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) (2024)SPD has been updated to accommodate changes. Standards for electric vehicle charging points are not set, as these are now set by the Building Regulations, but it is reflected in the guidance to address the needs of people with disabilities and reduced mobility, minimise the potential for conflict between different road users, avoid unnecessary street clutter, and enable electric vehicle charging.

Description
The Parking Provision and Sustainable Transport Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) has removed the requirement for major developments to have 20% active charging points but reflects the needs of people and accessibility for all users. Sustainable methods of travel will be encouraged and reviewed through documents such as the Parking SPD (2024).
