Transport is the largest emitting sector of GHG emissions in the UK, contributing for about 24% of the country's total emissions, and nearly 28% of the total territorial emissions in Stevenage. To achieve net-zero emissions, there must be a step change in reducing our transport emissions. Therefore, road transport is a key area for us to address, which involves our own operations and the broader borough travel needs. Behavioural changes of residents, employers, employees or visitors, with support from the Transport Authority, can have huge transformational impacts not only on the carbon emissions, but also health and employment opportunities.
