The waste sector is deeply linked to climate change and its impact extends beyond mere waste management. While minor levels of emissions are released during waste treatment and disposal, the prevention and recovery of waste can significantly reduce emissions across all economic sectors. "Reducing, Reusing, Repairing, Recycling and Recovering" need to be at the heart of what we do as a Council when collecting and processing waste. It is also crucial to raise the awareness to our residents and businesses, aiming to transition to a future circular economy.
Alongside Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) and Hertfordshire WasteAware Partnership, SBC is responsible for part of the waste management sector in Stevenage. A set of actions to be promoted by the Council throughout the waste management process has been designed.
