Description
Demand for housing is at record levels. Through the MSEB Corporate Plan, the Council has strived to build a range of new and sustainable homes to meet this need. The Council has committed to building back better and greener developments within the area.
All Council's new housing developments are designed to adhere to its 5★ quality approach. Further information at: SBC Housing Development - On the right road.
This helps the Council define the quality of its wider programme, ensuring developments are sustainable, affordable and make best use of the assets available. The 5★ approach principles are:

Sustainability is a top priority for all of the Council's new-build developments, with a major focus on protecting and enhancing the environment. The innovative technology installed ensures that all new homes constructed are sustainable for both future residents and the environment, while providing resilience to future climate challenges.

Dunn Close
A 27-home scheme benefiting from ASHPs, solar panels, and heat recovery systems, underpinned by a fabric-first approach to ensure enhanced insulation and lower heating costs.

Kenilworth Close (Phase 1)
A completed phase featuring 31 houses, 57 flats, 88 independent living homes, seven shops, and an indoor community space. Sustainability features include hybrid heating systems with Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) providing most of the heat, solar panels and batteries supplying electricity for landlord needs, Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR), and green roofs.

Helston House, Scarborough Avenue
The Scarborough Avenue development is an all-electric, entirely social-rented development of 29, one, two and three-bed flats let to Council tenants.
The development also contains a number of enhanced environmental features, including electric boilers, triple glazing, battery systems, heat recover systems and solar panels.
The scheme gained recognition in the inaugural ICW showcase awards in the UK Construction Sector.
