Community orchards can provide fresh fruit for local residents in the future and, as the trees mature, will also provide a haven for a range of wildlife. They are places for people to come together for community activities and to promote healthy living.
There are 12 community orchards in Stevenage:

Fairlands Valley Park farmhouse
Wellfield Open Space
St Nicholas Park
Hampson Park
Raleigh Crescent Open Space
Shephalbury Park
Peartree Park
Bedwell Park
Whitesmead Rec
Symonds Green Open Space
Donkey Park, Featherstone Road
Further ones may come forward in future.
The orchards – comprising a mixture of apple, pear, mulberry, peach, and plum trees – were planted at Peartree Park, Letchmore Road Open Space and Bedwell Park. Pupils from local schools Letchmore Infants and Nursery School, Bedwell Primary School and Peartree Spring Primary School council officers for the planting of the trees.

Green Space Volunteers and pupils from Shephalbury Park Primary School and the Leys School helped council officers planting fruit trees to create three new community orchards at Raleigh Crescent Open Space, Shephalbury Park, and St Nicholas Park.
Planted 12 fruit trees, including apple, pear, and cherry trees, at Donkey Park on Featherston Road.
A Pyrus – also known as a pear tree, was planted and is a great addition to the St Nicholas Orchard.
